DJ Kutt Throat aka “The Plug”

A native of Southwest Atlanta, 24 year old DJ Kutt Throat aka “The Plug” (Kutt) has become one of the premier hip-hop DJs in the world. His journey in the music industry began in 2004 while working at Peppermint Music in Atlanta. Under the guidance of the store’s DJ, Kutt began to love the art of DJ’ing and began to perfect his craft. DJ’ing any and everywhere he could, Kutt became a staple at local parties and events.

“I was always the kid people called to brings the CD’s to the house party because everyone knew I worked at a music store and had all the music” he said. “So one day I thought to myself;Why not take it a step further”.

KT has gone on to work with Asylum, Interscope, Atlantic, Def Jam, & So So Def Records on various projects and events. He has also collaborated with Roscoe Dash, Future,  Rich Kidz, Shawty Lo, and events for Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, to name a few.

His hard work has led to such accolades as “Top 100 DJ’s to serve music to in Atlanta” by Hot Block Magazine and nominated for Legion of Doom’s “Best New DJ” award in 2006, and Salute the DJs award for Most Overlooked DJ in 2009 & 2010.

KT’s popularity continued to soar, with his exposure at HOT107.9’s Birthday Bash, 2009 Sprite Step Show, Young Jeezy’s Street Dreams Christmas Benefit, the Monique Show, in addition to touring with Interscope/ZoneIV recording artist, Roscoe Dash. His journey through the music industry has also led him to a role as a touring DJ for J. Futuristic, Young Jeezy, Slick Pulla, & the Atlanta stop of Jay-Z’s 2006 Hangar Music Tour. He has also been featured in numerous media outlets, including Ozone, Break, Street Talk, Street Report, Rolling Out, Flyer Promo Mag, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Most recently, KT has emerged as the C.E.O. of the Plug DJs, a southeast regional DJ coalition, based out of Atlanta. He is also Co-founder & President of the hip-hop powerhouse PLUG Enterprises. Both entities serve as a catalyst to further expose hip-hop music from the south to a larger market. His ear for music has made him a taste-maker for unsigned artists. Kutt introduced his mixtape series, FAKE i.d., which has become a coveted promotional opportunity for artist seeking to strengthen their fan base in the streets. The series is recognized by the entertainment industry as one of the premier sources for the South’s best new unsigned talent, a mixtape series and brand targeting urban youth.

Fake i.d. has emerged as a leading voice for the southern urban youth. Kutt recognizes the expressions and ideas of the young market and embraces that they shape the industry.

“Ultimately FAKE i.d. is the gateway to the urban youth market. It is the PLUG to this important demographic,” he said.

Kutt is currently developing community efforts to reach out to his young demographic while continuing to seek and create innovative ways to capture his growing audience.
